There are a limited quantity of very high quality studio and field photographic lights.
The fixtures and ballast are manufactured by SPI and the lamp is an Osram/Sylvania
HQI-DE 250/DX metal halide. The 250 watt lamp has a Color Rendering Index of 93
(an excellent full spectrum) and the color temperature is 5400K. These are true
daylight lights capable of a very high level of illumination despite their nominally low
wattage.
One light is sufficient to provide complete diffuse / scattered light for photography and
inpainting for a studio of at least 800 square feet. Two such lights have provided
sufficient lighting to photograph paintings of a size of 16' x 16'.
