American Institute for Conservation (AIC) – AIC is the national professional organization for art conservators. They run a referral service for conservation and are responsible for promulgation of ethical standards (voluntary compliance).

Conservation Online (CoOL)– CoOL is a project of the Preservation Department of Stanford University Libraries. It is a full text library of conservation information, covering a wide spectrum of topics of interest to those involved with the conservation of library, archives and museum materials. http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/

International Center for Art Intelligence, Inc. (ICAI, Inc.) – A non-profit corporation dedicated to the scientific study of art authentication. www.authentica.org

International Center For Conservation – Rome (ICCROM) – The only international conservation organization. It was set up after WWII by the United Nations but is independent. It runs many courses and publishes conservation literature.

International Institute for the Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC) is the international professional association of conservators. They run triennial thematic conservation congresses in various countries and publish valuable proceedings. The headquarters is in London, UK. www.iiconservation.org
